Hypnotic Skies, Alluring Sunsets

There are so many perks of being a road trip lover. One of them being photography and witnessing some amazing feats of nature. What I enjoy most is ogling at the skies. The vastness and enormity of the sometimes blue, sometimes gray, sometimes colorful and sometimes black sky has been the muse of many a poets and writers. And similarly, without contemplating too much I have joined those ranks and the wild blue yonder has become my muse too. Its vastness and myriad hues inspire me to the core, not to just to write but to think, observe and reflect too. The huge expanse broadens horizons of the mind in such a spectacular way. Perhaps that’s why people say it is amazing to look at the sky. In fact I would spend hours just looking at the sky and be totally awestruck, since I was a kid. Even the nightfall would be such a treat, especially with the stars shining bright. The sky truly is hypnotic and transcends you into a different world. Why just sunsets? Sigh.. I am not a morning person. Trust that settles it!

Hypnotic Skies, Alluring Sunsets! #photography #skies #TravelwithArchie @archanackapoor Click To Tweet

The sky is simply gorgeous at every given time of the year, whatever the season. It needs no reason to show off its beauty. The monsoons bring out the deepest darkest colors in the skies, while the summers make it an array of the most bewitching and dazzling hues. I wonder how and where the colors come from, the splendid chromism, the intensity of each tint, the luminosity and the undertones, tinges of the same color in different forms. And the moods? The skies can show anger as well as love, peace and serenity, as well as happiness. They can shower you with respite and punish you with its blazing fire. I could go on and on. But for once, I have decided to talk less and show more. Rather show off my photography skills. Well, not really. I don’t think I qualify as an amateur photographer also, as yet; though I do have very big aspirations in photography.

Today for a change, I want to present a photo-essay on the wonderful skies! During our road trips when it is the dear husband who is driving all the time, I make the most of being the backseat driver (oh yeah!!) by clicking pictures of the sky, as and when I find the perfect kodak moment. All the pictures I am presenting today have been clicked using my Iphone 6+ (I get bored to point and shoot with the SLR from the moving car, it is a bit painful too). The cell phone just makes things easier and the 6+ does have a great resolution, so it works for me. Plus, it also helps in sharing real time photographs on social media – something I love to do whenever I click, even on the go. So, without much ado let me just showcase the pictures. Most of them were clicked last year in the month of June (2015), during our really long road trip from Atlanta to Miami to Pensacola to Houston and back to Atlanta. You can read about the road trip here: 6 States and 2753 Miles In 7 Days – A Road Trip In The United States! The trip itinerary sure tells you the amount of time we spent on the road in our beloved car. Please excuse me if the photos look a bit shaky, I’ve tried my best to click with a steady hand.

Hope you enjoy the skies. Would love to know what you think – of the skies in general and the pictures. By the way, are you a sky lover and sky gazer too?

Love, Archie
